Like many others, I’ve been desperately soaking up the last of the summer sun lately. As the nights draw in, it becomes ever so clear to me how precious these sun-kissed evenings are. Funny isn’t it, how we can spend all of July and August taking the summer for granted then, come September, we’re all scrabbling to fit in after work drinks and make the most of it before the sunshine slips away for good. Guilty.
Cue the ‘desk to dancefloor’ outfit. A trusty combo that’s conservative enough for the office but can be sexed up come 5 o’clock so there’s no need to feel drab during dinner and drinks.

As so often with transformative outfits, the key to nailing this look is layering. Slip on a sexy silhouette like an LBD or a body and a fitted skirt like me and then cover up any naughty bits with office-worthy accessories. A strategically draped scarf, a cardigan, thick black tights… You get the picture. Just make sure that these added extras feel comfortable and natural – you’ll need to wear them all day after all.
If you’re not one to hack it in heels all day at the office, I recommend picking a pair that’ll go with everything like these Public Desire court shoes – £9.99 in the sale if you please! Keep them under your desk Monday to Friday ready to slip them on at 5 o’clock, saving you bringing an extra bag into work every day.
A statement clutch bag like this beaded beauty by Accesorize at House of Fraser, is a great wardrobe weapon for dusk ’til dawn dressing. It’s glamorous and small enough to pack inside your day bag, ready for transformation time. It’s also roomy enough for your work phone and personal phone as well as keys, makeup essentials and anything else you’ll need for tomorrow’s commute into work meaning you can ditch your huge tote bag at the office and pick it up the next day.
And just for good measure…

I hope that you find this post useful. It’s the same top and outfit in both photos by the way just in case that wasn’t clear, I know the colours look a bit different. I’ve been experimenting with a new photo editor and clearly I need a little more practise! Do you have any desk to dancefloor outfit hacks that you can share in a comment? I’m making as much of the sunshine as possible. In fact, I have a couple more hours of work to do then I’m off to meet friends for a prosecco picnic in Regent’s Park – follow me on Snapchat (missjadefraser) to peek at all the fun! Ciao!
