‘Tis that time of year when the sun is shining and suddenly our calendars come alive again with summer occasions and the promises of bustling BBQs, peppy parties and of course there’s those wondrous weddings.
Whilst most of us love a gorgeous gown or dainty sundress, sometimes it’s fun to switch it up. Here’s some alternative summer occasion styling that can still win you the title of Best Dressed Guest this summer. Read on for the full look:
When I first saw this lace ruffle top in Topshop it was love at first sight, I just knew that I had to have it. It combines all the things that I’m obsessed with this season; romantic ruffles, a lovely light shade and luxe lace which is fast becoming my go to requirement for elegant pieces this summer, it’s just so pretty. I picked it up in the ‘Last Chance to Buy’ section in Topshop for just £35. I always make a beeline there as the items are often reduce and it’s a great place to find some beautiful and unique pieces as usually the things aren’t part of the current selection is store so fewer people are likely to have them. Luckily for you guys it turns out that this top is available online in all their sizes so we can all enjoy it – woop woop!

This off-white H&M blazer has already got a lot of wear throughout spring, you might remember it form this look, and I don’t see that changing in summer. Simply slung over the shoulders I think it adds a lovely touch of tailoring whilst still keeping the look light and summery. With the unpredictable British weather it’s important to factor in extra layers which won’t spoil the look of your outfit.
I chose to style this top with my Missguided high waisted flares I bought for my birthday because I’m all about making the most of a purchase but this top would also look super pretty with a high-waisted pencil skirt too or even a voluminous tulle skirt for an ultra romantic look. Just be sure to tuck the top in to create a synched waist if you go for something flared on the bottom as all those beautiful ruffles add extra volume. This will nip your waist to avoid adding extra frump and give yourself a sexy hourglass silhouette.
