Your Holiday Packing Checklist: Weekend Break

I consider myself a bit of a pro at travelling now. From family getaways to festivals and from hauling ass between home and university to short-haul holidays, I consider myself the princess of packing for a weekend away.

Bookmark this list and each time you travel you can tick it off, safe in the knowledge that you’re not forgetting any fabulous essentials.

Travelling in comfort is of the utmost importance to me when I’m going away but that doesn’t mean that I like to compromise on style. Instead, I’ve developed a kind of travel uniform that is my go to for stress-free travel, especially if I’m only bringing a carry on. A loose V-neck tee in a neutral colour is a great base piece as it can be dressed down with jeans or dressed up by tucking it into a skirt and adding a statement necklace. I like to travel in a comfortable lace bra and then pack a strapless push-up bra for some night time va-va-voom. Black skinny jeans are a must as they look great any time of day and can later be paired with a cami, a boyfriend blazer and heels for a night time look. Since I’m usually leaving a chilly England I’ll take a leather jacket with me and pop a lightweight scarf in my bag to also protect from over-zealous aeroplane or train air conditioning. I can then just loop the jacket through the shoulder straps of my large black tote bag if I arrive somewhere warmer. Loafers or espadrilles make the perfect travel shoes as they’re comfy and stylish but lightweight enough to wear in a hot climate too.

Tip: Stick to a neutral colour palette with pops of colour in your accessories for a mix and match wardrobe. Black is always en vogue for bigger pieces like jeans and jackets but I try to break up the intensity with tops in greys, neutrals and whites too. A pair of bright heels and a bright clutch bag then allow me to inject some fun into my look, rounding it off.
