Every now and then we stumble across those magical pieces we see and just know that we have to have. It doesn’t matter what you came into the shop for, nor what your current bank balance may say. Beg, steal or borrow, you will walk away with said item.
How delightful then, when we flip the tag over with baited breath, only to see that the price is nothing short of a steal and the beautiful item won’t cost us a kidney or a criminal record. Those are the moments I love to share on Jade With Envy.
That’s exactly how I felt about this perfect pink Bardot top that I snapped up in TK Maxx for £11.99. I was shopping for my Paris trip, casually browsing through the rails of yoga pants and evening gowns (you’ve got to love their variety) when I spied the crisp pink fabric out of the corner of my eye. As I approached the rail of tops I noted more details, the bardot neckline, the bell sleeeves, the pretty pink micro gingham. Suddenly my head was flooded with Parisian styling inspiration and I instantly knew that I had to have it.
Lucky for me then that the weather in Paris was gorgeous and a lightweight, floaty top couldn’t have been more perfect.
Ideal for one particularly sunny afternoon during our trip when our friends took us to the magnificent Parc des Butter-Chaumont. This is, hands down, the most beautiful park I’ve ever been to. Considering I live in London, home to the Royal Parks, that is saying something… We stayed here for hours picnicking in the sun with wine, fresh French baguette sandwiches and endless games of poker played with a mix of euros and pennies. I want to show you more of the park in an ‘Undiscovered Paris’ post I’m going to do later this month so stayed tuned.
As it was such a sweltering day, I went for sunglasses and no makeup-makeup and let my bright top do the talking. It helps that I’m really into my new foundation which is probably the most natural, skin-like foundation I’ve ever tried. It has a slight shimmer to it without being glitter so I my skin always looks dewy and healthy when I wear it. The shade range is brilliant too. A+.
I saw a whole different side to Paris, staying with friends who live there than I did the last time I went. I did some filming while I there too so that video will be up on my YouTube channel next week. First though is this week’s vlog of Notting Hill Carnival weekend which will be up on Sunday so keep an eye out for that here!
