- All. The. Heat – An obvious one but only means that it was clearly SO great. Instead of having the, ‘What shall we do?’ dilemma, on a sunny day all plans defaulted to, ‘let’s go and read (nap) in the park’ or, after 12pm, ‘let’s find a beer garden’. During the week I could appreciate the fact that, as a freelancer, I could take my work out to my balcony to soak up the rays this year – something that I’ve not always been able to do. It was also cool how the bank holidays were all mostly sunny here in the UK. I personally didn’t really have many plans over them; sadly my social life has been a little lacklustre lately but it made me happy to know that it worked out well for those who did.
2. Halo Top Ice Cream – Only 280 cals for a tub and sooooo good. Honestly it’s so creamy and rich tasting, if anything to me it tastes even more indulgent than regular ice cream. You can find it in Tesco. I recommend the cinnamon roll and birthday cake flavours.
Nasty Gal – if you watch my YouTube channel, you’ll know that I’ve been shopping up a storm on Nasty Gal this summer and for good reason. They have so many gorgeous styles of tops, some of which look very expensive and they run flash sales all the time so it’s really a no-brainer. I find a lot of fast fashion brands can be hit and miss but I rarely send anything back there.
Cotton – A new found love of mine. One unexpected side effect of all the sunshine we were blessed with was my sudden realisation that polyester is very much a winter material… Though it’s found all over the high street and has many benefits over fancy fabrics, breathability just isn’t one. This summer I learned to read care labels and look for cotton or at least polyblend fabrics, especially for pyjamas, loungewear and underwear because sweat just ain’t sexy. It turns out that a lot of high street stores, even Primark, do cotton or cotton blend pieces. Yay for feeling fresh and free.
Delicious Destinations Flamingo Body Mist – from Superdrug, it smells like heaven. Coconut Milk and Orchid heaven. There’s nothing like whipping out the cute little bottles, spritzing the refreshing mist, closing your eyes in the sun and pretending that you’re on the beach in Bali. Not only is it a quarter of the price of a certain wing adorned, non-size-inclusive popular brand of bodys sprays they sell – we’ll call them Schmictoria’s Schmecret – but these come in a handy handbag size too. They’re also on a 2 for 1 special at the time of posting so if you’re quick you can bag a bargain!
I hope this post inspires you to take a second to make a mental note of your own summer highlights before they feel like a distant memory. It’s so important to appreciate the little highs in life as it’s those memories that will get us through the lows and back to the other side again.
